Birthright Victoria is looking for new volunteers!
Become a Volunteer
Have you ever considered becoming a volunteer at Birthright Victoria? Perhaps you have a heart for women struggling with unplanned pregnancy. You’d like to be involved in solutions which honour pre-born life while supporting women who face unexpected pregnancy. Perhaps counselling women in crisis pregnancies is something you’ve been thinking you might like to do someday… Now is a great time to get started! We provide complete volunteer training. Topics covered include Birthright philosophy, communication and listening skills, prenatal development and pregnancy-related issues. We follow that up with opportunities to shadow experienced volunteers while learning office procedures and taking part in client sessions. When you’re ready, we ask each new volunteer to commit to a weekly three hour shift, plus occasional volunteer meetings. The extent of your commitment: three hours a week, and the opportunity to do something powerfully life-changing and life-affirming.
Our Regional Conference
Birthright Victoria will be hosting our Regional Conference for volunteers in Western Canada on September 23 – an ideal learning opportunity for new volunteers and volunteers-in-training to receive additional training, meet fellow volunteers from centres in Victoria, Vancouver, Alberta, and Saskatchewan, and dive into the Birthright experience! Our Regional Conference takes place once every two years, and usually not in Victoria, so this is a unique opportunity.
Being a Volunteer
Becoming a Birthright Volunteer might just change your life as well as the lives of the women who knock at our door looking for Birthright help and support. Once you’ve helped a woman in crisis find her way through a difficult situation, you never look back.
Be part of the solution: a solution all of us can live with.
We would be happy to speak with you further about becoming a volunteer with Birthright. Please contact us at info@birthrightvictoria.org or call 250.380.0322 to discuss training and information on our upcoming Regional Conference.
